Typographic Metaphor

A classic typography project that got me to think more about typographic design. The brief on this one was essential to communicate the meaning of a word typographically, in the simplest way possible, without graphic imagery. I narrowed down my choices to two words: “swivel” & “individualistic”.
I represented swivel by having the last three letters swinging around an imaginary hinge, thus creating a swivel effect.
Within the word Individualistic the letter “i” appears five times, so I decided to make each “i” individual of each other by using other symbols and glyphs found throughout the typeface Bauhaus.
